Women win in Cirencester

Bath Women v Cirencester

18th April 2021

Venue – Westonbirt School

Quarter 1

Cirencester started the game strong, immediately putting Bath’s Defence (Abi Chell, Carmen Larrea and Beth Storey) under pressure. However, once Bath had possession the attack and mid-field worked hard to keep the ball and score several goals. Score: 5-3 to Cirencester.

Quarter 2

Bath settled into the game and worked hard in the midfield (Lottie Robertson, Carys, Sarah Stokes and Jess Hine) to turn the ball over and have the majority of the possession. Bath won the quarter, closing the gap to Cirencester. Score: 9-8 to Cirencester.

Quarter 3

Bath’s attacks (Iona Westwood, Victoria Westwood, Beth Carey and Jess Westwood) pulled together with excellent energy to score several goals. Combined with some excellent saves (with her head no less) from goalie Katie Little, allowed Bath to take the lead. Score: 11-12 to Bath.

 Quarter 4

Knowing the score was close everyone on the pitch put in a fantastic effort to score the first goal of the quarter. Bath were then on a roll and scored several more goals, lengthening the score-difference. Cirencester were only able to score one goal in the quarter, giving Bath the win. Final Score: 12-16 to Bath.

Well done to all who played! It was Bath’s first win of the season.
