The disappointment of having to cancel Bath 8’s this year wasn’t going to stop Bath Lacrosse Club from getting out onto the pitch on the 5th of September – the day Odd Down would have seen over 400 lacrosse players attending the 35th tournament.
The conditions were perfect for lacrosse (well it was the day of the Eights), and a group of club players formed a couple of Mixed teams for a competitive game, all with a weather eye on all the current Covid-19 England Lacrosse guidelines.
Mixed rules meant the male players had to use women’s sticks and get used to what are essentially the women’s rules.
After a full-length 4 quarter match (cleaning equipment at every break) of end-to-end lacrosse, the players enjoyed a socially distanced picnic – the perfect end to the summer and start to the 2020/21 season.
Formal training restarts at Odd Down Sports Ground on Tuesday at the earlier time of 7.00-8.00 pm – meet on the grass at 6.30 pm to do temperature checks, register and warm ups!
