Strong performance gives a deserved win for the Bath Men’s squad

Camden Capybaras 3rd team travelled with a 13 man squad for this SEMLA D2 fixture (the third meeting between the two teams) looking to improve from past results against Bath that saw the boys in red score 30 goals in the two meetings the previous season.
The game was played at a lively pace, ground balls fought hard and both keepers kept busy as the game swayed from end to end.
There wasn’t much between the teams in all departments, face off’s, ground balls around 50/50 and both teams not prepared to give an inch. The scores in the first half reflected how even this game was, with both quarters tied at 2 a-piece.
Bath normally have terrible third quarter, but lately it seems to be the best periods of the game, the big difference between the two sides in this period of the game was some outstanding goal keeping from Tilson, denying the visitors attack; and some great feeds and finishing by the Bath attack, caused in no small part to the Bath attack moving the ball a little sharper around the zone, opening up the opportunity to feed to crease. A big gap appeared in the score line as the mighty Red won the third quarter 5:2.
This seemed to break the Camden will, and tired Camden legs began to tell. Although not high scoring the 4th quarter was a clean sheet for Tilson in the Bath goal as Bath finished the game 3:0.
A good win for Bath, and, if the West country outfit could field this squad every week the league position would be much higher. Camden will be no pushover at home, and it will make for an interesting return fixture later on in the season.
