Stanton St Quintin represent the West at the National Pop 2025

Bath LC have a long association with a small village school near Chippenham called Stanton St Quintin. Between American LDO’s and club volunteers, the school has been proud to call itself a Lacrosse school for nearly 20 years.
Although tiny in comparison to many other primary schools in the lacrosse family, the staff always manage to support lacrosse and compete every year in the National Pop tournament.

Qualifying this year took place at Surrey Sports Park, the home of the University of Surrey. Sharing a coach with sister school Langley Fitzurse PS, Stanton competed against schools from all over the South of England.

This was Langley’s first ever competition, after only 10 sessions of Pop lacrosse, for Stanton, experience shone through, and the team qualified for the last 16, finishing 7th despite a couple of injuries to key players.

The trip to the National Pop tournament started bright and early, leaving Wiltshire at 07.15hrs to get up the motorway to Stoke where 16 schools competed, Stanton from the South West, 5 teams from the South East, 2 teams from Scotland, and 8 teams from the North of England.

Many of the players on display are linked to club junior clubs, and the standard was very high, good ball movement, accurate shooting and super super fast pop lacrosse. Stanton, fought well, but in the end found the opposition just too strong, National placing 15th on the day. The players were not downhearted and had a fantastic day, plus the traditional McFlurry on the way home topped off a great trip.

Bath Lacrosse is so pleased for the boys and girls of Stanton St Quintin, a credit to the school and the sport. Six of the eight players graduate to secondary school this year, the next generation is already looking forward to 2026.
