Bath LC has always had an open-door policy, if you want to play lacrosse the club will try to make it happen
Recruitment is always difficult, Lacrosse is a little-known sport, but the club knows that once someone gets to try lacrosse there’s a good chance they will want more.
To raise the profile, face off man, Sam Kettle arranged a spot at the Trowbridge games day on a hot Saturday, the club put up some netting and branding, got Will Tilson in goal and allowed young people to try the game and shoot at the goalie.
Lots of club members manned the table and chatted to children and parents alike, all to raise the profile of lacrosse in the area.
The following weekend Club development Officer Nik Roberts, helped by Sam White, Lane Piva and Johnluca Piva ran a 5-hour lacrosse camp at Stanton St Quintin Primary School near Chippenham.
12 young people came out despite the summer holidays kicking off the day before. Aged 7 to 15, the session was full of fun games and skill practices. They even got to spend some time in helmets and gloves, despite it being very hot.
Bath hope to run a regular youth programme at Stanton starting after the October Half term – watch this space
