Bath Women start season with win

Bath v Cardiff Harlequins Ladies

5th October 2025

SW Invitational Cup

Final Score Bath 18:9 Cardiff Harlequins

Small but capable squad means business

Bath’s women’s team opened the season campaign with an impressive win over Cardiff Harlequins, controlling the game for large periods of play and reaping the benefit with some well worked goals

The game could have been out of site but for the Cardiff keeper who had an outstanding game of lacrosse.

Bath seemed to relax going into the 3rd quarter with a 10:2 lead and tried to conserve energy, looking to save legs which was likely to be a factor in an end-to-end game with no substitutes. This allowed Cardiff to come back into the game, scoring at the end of a couple of solo, lung busting drives, winning the quarter 5:4 and giving the visitors some well-deserved momentum.

Although not in real danger of the gap being closed, Bath rallied and regained dominance in the final quarter winning the period 4:2

This was a good performance from Bath, good ball movement in attack, providing goals at regular intervals.

In defence, Cardiff cause problems with direct drives at the goal, which pulled the Bath defence out of shape – something to work on looking forward to some of the better teams in the league.
