Captain Tommy Kasakowski was pleased to be able to travel to Buckhurst Hill for this fixture with a squad of 11, for one player (Mark Lovett) that represented 10 hour plus round trip from Exeter.
Bath started the game well, controlling the attack and keeping a good offensive shape, but Buckhurst Hill, playing with a larger squad stayed in the game and gradually made the numbers count.
Bath should have been away and clear, but for some great saves from the Bucks goalkeeper, who in the end was the difference between the two teams, alongside plenty of sin bin time for the visiting team.
At face, Sam Kettle started to use a long pole, allowing for extra D if the ball came up for Bucks.
Bath are suffering from injuries and general unavailability in this season, and one can’t help thinking, that with a full, fit squad the boys in red could dominate the division.
Some work to do, but plenty of positives to build on.
